THE GLOBAL GARNACHA SUMMIT:
D.O.P. CARIÑENA
The wine region of D.O.P. Cariñena is home to more old vine Garnacha than any other wine region in Spain. Gregory + Vine has proudly represented Cariñena in their efforts to build brand image and distribution channels since 2014. Agency activities encompass all public relations, sponsorships, events, trade shows, trade education and digital marketing on a national basis.
As the historic birthplace of the Garnacha and Cariñena varieties, D.O.P. Cariñena led 50 VIP winemakers, sommeliers, retailers and media partners to present the first Global Garnacha Summit at The CIA at Copia in Napa. The one-day exploration of Garnacha/Grenache included educational seminars, tastings, networking and an interactive blind tasting to benefit the SommFoundation. Presenters spanned the wine world, including Spain’s Pedro Ballesteros Torres MW; Jay James MS of SommFoundation; winemakers Randall Grahm of Bonny Doon Vineyard, Emmanuel Kemiji MS of Clos Pissarra, and Even Bakke of Clos de Trias; Bob Bath MS of The Culinary Institute of America; and Peter Granoff MS of Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant.
The Global Garnacha Summit offered an extraordinary vision of the Cariñena region’s leadership efforts to reinforce their historic winemaking legacy and collective commitment to quality and bold initiatives. Cariñena has been recognized as a “Wine Region to Watch,” and has doubled their export volume to the U.S. since the launch of the campaign.
